It’s amazing how powerful silent, slightly blurry images can be. Dad got his Super 8 camera in 1973 and, over the next ten years, filmed Easters, Christmases, family vacations, and glimpses of everyday life. I thought folks might enjoy seeing some of them, so I've pulled out a selection from times the family was together for holidays or special events.
If we could go back to 1973 and tell Dad that 52 years later we'd be enjoying these, he'd be absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, we don't have an actual time machine, but this is perhaps the next best thing: a chance to visit a time and place that might as well be a different planet from today.
P.S. Let these videos also serve as a loving reminder of the hairstyles and clothes we all thought were a fantastic idea at the time.
Come for the memories, stay for the polyester.
